MSEA North-Rift regional office in partnership with Inkomomoko organization organized a two day Market linkages and exhibition event in Kakuma-Daadab/ Refugees camp in Kakuma municipality, Turkana County.

The event was aimed at creating new opportunities and markets for MSEs who are able to supply items under various value chains to the refugee camp which has a huge and readily available market for diverse products. The camp is facing a shortage of different products including food stuffs, textile, furniture, medical supplies among others.

Some of the North Rift MSEs identified to supply products in the Kakuma refugee camp

It is expected that Eldoret town, which is a strategic transit location to Turkana County will help bridge the accessibility gap hence creating a huge market for the MSEs within the County. The event was attended by over 45 MSEs mobilized by the Authority. The Kakuma Municipality has a Population of more than 500 000 People, 300,000 being refugees.

More than 55 NGO’s operate in the same municipality to support the Refugees. INKOMOKO organization is an institution that focuses on business development and supports refugees. It has an active clientele of over 8000 people within the camp. MSEA will leverage on this networking and help MSEs gain Value through expanded market opportunities.
