The Kenyan government’s Affordable Housing Project, a key pillar of the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA), is expected to generate jobs in the construction sector. Through strategic partnerships and initiatives, the Micro and Small Enterprises Authority (MSEA) has played a vital role in facilitating Micro and Small Enterprises (MSEs) across the country to seize these opportunities.
Among these initiatives, is a collaboration with Kingdom Bank and Town Tools Organization, aimed at capacity-building MSEs from Uasin Gishu and Nandi Counties. This event underscores MSEA’s ongoing efforts to provide MSMEs with the tools and resources needed to seize the opportunities within the Affordable Housing Project. The MSEs, representing 40 associations, have either secured or are in the process of securing these opportunities.

A key outcome of the meeting was an agreement reached with Kingdom Bank, ensuring that MSEs registered under MSEA and participating in the Affordable Housing Project will receive priority for funding and financing. The Bank’s representatives outlined various credit facilities tailored to support MSEs in their business ventures.
Town Tools Organization introduced MSEs to opportunities for acquiring essential machinery, a critical need for their successful participation in the Affordable Housing Project. The session underscored the importance of business formalization as a prerequisite for accessing these opportunities.
In addition to the current opportunities, MSEA informed participants about upcoming projects, including the NYOTA and KJET initiatives.

MSEA North Rift Regional Head, CPA Alton Kogo,(speaking) reaffirmed the Authority’s dedication to supporting MSEs growth.
MSEA team emphasized the need for MSMEs to maintain high-quality standards in their projects to avoid rejection by contractors and ensure timely loan repayments. This commitment to quality and excellence is pivotal as MSEs work alongside major stakeholders in the Affordable Housing Project, including projects in Kapseret, Kidiwa, Moiben, Eldoret 64 Market, Moisbridge Market, and Moiben Market.
