After a two-day successful exhibition dubbed the ‘Eldoret City MSEs Exhibition’ held at Zion Mall in Eldoret Town the MSEs met with the State Department of MSME Development Principal Secretary Madam Susan Mang’eni at the EKA hotel for a one-on-one session on key issues pertinent to the MSE’s sector growth.

The PS visited several MSE’s stand to interact and appreciate the diverse products and services showcased during the two-day expo. Later in the evening, The PS led a high-level panel discussion during a meet and mingle one on one meeting with the MSEs participating in the exhibition, the PS reiterated the Government’s support through formalization of the MSE’s which identifies the needs and challenges faced by the MSEs. She encouraged registered MSE’s associations in the building and construction sector to take advantage of the affordable housing projects that grants them the opportunity to supply windows, doors, and other equipment required in the projects happening across all counties.

She further encouraged the MSE’s to embrace the journey of graduation from small to medium through working with various stakeholders to bridge the gaps and build sustainable businesses. On product quality, the PS called on the County Government to support the MSE’s through value chain mapping and partner with stakeholders like MSEA who offer common user machines that support the production of better products fit for the market needs.
She called on the Uasingishu County Government to leverage on the youth’s creativity and innovativeness as the town becomes a new city to utilize technology and emerging trends that create more jobs in the digital economy. The PS appealed to the County Government and stakeholders present to renew their focus on MSE’s sector because it’s the only sector with room to create more jobs
“As Eldoret prepares to become a new city and a global village, it is good to note that there will be various competing interests, therefore mapping of the strengths and weaknesses is key to establish various interventions that support different sectors and especially the small-scale traders, said PS Mang’eni.
The evening discussions included other panellists and stakeholders from MSEA Uasingishu County Government CECM in charge of Roads and Infrastructure Eng Joseph Lagat and other private sector players. PS Mangeni also issued participation certificates to the MSEs who participated in the Exhibition.
